Jordan Belfort is an American entrepreneur, speaker, and author. He is best known for his autobiography, The Wolf of Wall Street, which was made into a film by Martin Scorsese in 2013.
Belfort was born in 1962 in the Queens borough of New York City. He attended state schools before eventually finding his way to Wall Street, where he worked as a stockbroker.
In 1987, Belfort founded the now-infamous Stratton Oakmont, Inc., which quickly rose to prominence as one of the most successful Wall Street firms of its time.
Jordan Belfort is most well-known for his involvement in what is known as the “Wolf of Wall Street” scam. This was a multi-million dollar boiler room operation that sold penny stocks to unsuspecting investors, who then saw their life savings evaporate when the stock prices crashed.
Belfort and his team used high-pressure sales tactics and lured people in with the promise of easy money. But the Wolf of Wall Street scam is just one of many Belfort has been involved in over the years. He’s also been convicted of money laundering, running a Ponzi scheme, and stock fraud.
Belfort was born to Jewish parents in the Bronx of New York City and was raised in Queens. Both his parents were accountants. He went to American University to study biology but ended up in the stock market later in his life.
