Steps In Getting A Bob Haircut

DeMar DeRozan’s iconic braids are just breathtaking, to say the least. But the base is the bob haircut. Here is an easy tutorial that explains how you can get the perfect bob haircut.

Step 1: Pick hair

Pick hair using a hair pick as this will stretch your hair to give you a realistic view of the current hair length. Fold ears when picking hair near the ear area and do it to your entire head. You want to pick from the roots to the tips.

Step 2: Use hair spray

Cutting your afro hair is difficult without a hair spray so use a good quality hair spray to lock everything in place. Once you are done spraying it on your entire head, blow dry it. This will make your hair stiff which allows for easy haircutting to take place.

Step 3: Start trimming

Using a clipper with the lever closed and freehand the top of your afro. This is trimming the stray hairs and it is not shaping your hair in any way at present.

This is also called the base of the haircut. For beginners, it is best to start from the bottom and then work your way to the top of the head.

Step 4: Get the side taper

Brush everything down before you start with the side taper. Use a trimmer to set the bald line. Then with the clippers lever open go about half an inch using corners, and get the perfect shape that you desire. If you are planning on wearing braids like DeMar DeRozan then you must do this to ensure a sharp look.

Step 5: Cut the hair

Using the clipper with the lever closed and no guard, start shaping the afro using the freehand method. If you are going to be wearing braids all the time then the shaping isn’t too crucial but it will still provide you with equal lengths. You can wear your hair in an afro this way.

Step 6: Blend it all

Next, with the number 1 guard and lever open, go about half an inch upward. You want to avoid a disconnected haircut so this is why this step is crucial for a smooth transition. Use a scooping-out motion for blending.

Practice makes perfect so don’t worry if you are unable to shape your afro to perfection on your first attempt. It will take a bit of practice and patience. As for the braiding part, practice braiding every day; if not all of your hair, then certain sections of it.

This will enable you to get a hang of it and you will be able to braid by yourself in no time. When are you planning to get a bob haircut like DeMar DeRozan?
