Russell Westbrook has an afro drop fade haircut at present. In this haircut, there is a gradual increase in hair length as you go up. The top area of the head has the most amount of hair.

The drop fade haircut looks good on any length of hair although it is most visible on short-length hair like Russell Westbrook’s. It is best to start with a bald area and then go up gradually for a dramatic effect.

If you want a haircut that doesn’t require too much maintenance then this is the haircut for you. It is edgy and it looks cool.

The voluminous afro on top and then the fade is another haircut that Russell Westbrook has sported in the past. It creates a more dramatic effect than the drop fade because the hair on top is dense and thick.

His 360 waves fade haircut is one of the best he had. The 360 waves are easy to achieve although they do require some patience. The hair gradually faded until the nape which helped the haircut to stand out.

Steps In Getting Afro Drop Fade Haircut

Get the afro drop fade like Russell Westbrook by doing the following.

Step 1: Pick hair and de-bulk

You want to first ensure that you pick your natural hair so that you can understand the exact length before you go in for the haircut.

Then using a trimmer create a perimeter to de-bulk starting from the nape and going upward. Make sure that you go a little higher than your eyebrow but not more around your head. If you go too high then it will mess it up so go slowly and steadily.

Step 2: Check and refine

Look in the mirror to see if both sides are equal. If the line is amiss then carefully go up and cut the required bulk from your head. This cut is all about technique so a little patience will go a long way.

When you are trimming the back, you want to do so with care. It is best if you leave more hair than you think you will need as you can refine it later on if necessary.

Step 3: Create a secondary line

With a clipper and no guard, create another line starting from the perimeter you created to about half an inch going up. Then using the clipper with the lever closed, lightly go over the hair you just cut to blend it in.

It should look like a gradual growth to the top portion of your head. Make sure you are using light pressure. The more pressure you use, the more hair will come off so be careful.

Step 4: De-bulk the top of the head

Go over the top portion of the head with your clippers slowly and with a loose hand. The guard you use will depend on the length of the hair that you want to see on top.

You can go for the number 2 guard and then use the number 1 guard to blend it in with the secondary line that you created earlier. Use a higher guard number and then a lower guard number if the previous hair is too long.

Step 5: Refine it to perfection

With the last step you want to go over the hair you cut and whether you are satisfied with the fade effect. Using a loose hand when you are using clippers is a little tricky when you are doing it on yourself but take your time and do it so that it looks just like Russell Westbrook’s amazing fade haircut.

Make sure you have sufficient mirrors set up so you can see the back.

Conclusion

Getting Russell Westbrook’s current haircut requires some technique. But once you get a hang of it, especially the levers of the clippers, it will become effortless.

Like with any task, the more you practice the better you will get. However, with the simple tutorial that was outlined above, you should get a good haircut in the first go.

If not, then it doesn’t matter because you can always try to perfect it the next time! Do you think you will try the latest Russell Westbrook haircut?
