Steps In Getting A Short Afro Haircut

Step 1: Comb hair out

You want to start by picking the hair out to ensure it is in its full length before you begin cutting it. This is essential for an afro haircut and without it, your haircut will be all over the place. This may take a while depending on the thickness and length of your hair but it is an essential step.

Step 2: Get a trimmer

You want to use the number 2 guard on the trimmer and ensure the lever is closed while trimming hair. Repeat this throughout your head so that the hair gets trimmed the same everywhere. Then use the number 1 guard with the lever open completely.

Step 3: Be accurate

Now you want to close the lever of the trimmer halfway and then trim your hair again. Remember that going over your hair twice or three times is best for accurate results as you will trim every hair strand correctly and precisely.

Step 4: Cut hair at the nape

You want to then cut the hair on the nape. You can do this by using a clipper and making sure the lever is open. Then you want to close the lever and go over the same area. You want to then open the lever for better blending.

It isn’t that difficult, is it? The key is to go slow and go over the same areas multiple times to ensure all the hair is the same length. You can easily do this haircut at home with minimal tools and some patience.

Conclusion

Lester Holt’s transformation from combed-out natural hair to a short afro haircut has been incredible to look at. He rocked all the haircuts that he has ever tried and we love how confidently he carried them.

While cutting natural hair can take some time, you can shorten the time if you know the technique and have the right tools.

As you can see it is not impossible to cut your natural hair at home and get a style similar to Lester Holt. When are you planning to trim your hair and get the new look you have been waiting for?
