Steps In Getting Braided Afro

In order for the perfect braided afro, you want to first trim the afro and then make braids. Here is how you can do both of these with ease at home.

Step 1: Prewash hair

Begin by washing your hair for extra moisture before you cut curly hair and let it dry for a few minutes. You want to let the hair be in its natural state before you trim your hair.

Then you want to check for any stray hairs that are ruining the shape of your afro. Using scissors, cut these hairs carefully by putting them between your fingers.

Step 2: Use a pick for roots

Lift the roots of your afro hair by using a pick and comb outward. This will help you shape your afro hair better.

Now look at the shape of your hair and start trimming using scissors without pulling the hair to be straight. This way, you get a natural afro shape that looks voluminous and it will be useful when making braids.

Step 3: Prep for braids

Use a heat protectant on your hair and then make several sections because you will be blow drying the hair in sections.

Then use a wide-toothed comb, detangle it, and then pull the hair to straighten it, and then use a low heat and high-speed setting on the blow dryer on the hair. This will somewhat straighten the hair and then use a brush to comb to ensure zero tangles. Repeat on all other sections.

Step 4: Braid hair

Using a tail comb, section your hair according to the braids you want, and then use a tiny amount of laydown lacquer on the first section you will braid. Then braid your hair.

This will ensure your braids stay in place and look stunning. You want to repeat this for the remaining sections you created and braid your hair.
